Potentiometric Titration

Potentiometric Titration

A potentiometric titrator is a lab instrument that automatically determines the concentration of a chemical by monitoring the change in electrical potential (voltage) as a titrant is added, instead of relying on a visual color change. It uses two electrodes—a reference electrode and an indicator electrode—to measure the potential difference (Ecell) in a solution, which changes with ion concentration. The titration’s endpoint is identified by a sudden jump in potential, and the data is plotted on a real-time graph to provide accurate analysis for various applications, including pharmaceuticals, food, and environmental monitoring.
